Odisha govt approves 429 road projects in Bhubaneswar

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved these road projects meant for residential colonies in Bhubaneswar, Jatni and Balianta blocks in Khurda district.

The Odisha government on Wednesday approved 429 road projects in the capital city and its periphery areas.

For these projects, the state will spend around Rs 39.25 crore, said a statement issued from the chief minister’s office here.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved these road projects meant for residential colonies in Bhubaneswar, Jatni and Balianta blocks in Khurda district.

On August 23, 5T secretary VK Pandian had visited some places in Khurda district. People of these localities had discussed with Pandian about the poor condition of roads and related infrastructures in their colonies. Pandian had received the memorandums from these people and assured them of help.

Pandian had informed this issue to chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Following Naveen’s direction, a technical team was formed to visit the areas. The team visited around 82 km of area and prepared the report for development of 429 road projects.

After getting the report, Pandian had again discussed with residents of these residential colonies on September 27 for development of these localities.

Bhubaneswar outskirts have witnessed several new residential colonies after the city’s growth. There were long-standing demands from the residents for development of internal roads and electrification.

Out of the total road projects, 140 will come under Bhubaneswar, 246 under Jatni and 43 under Balianta block. This government love will help more than three lakh people.

Chief minister has directed the officials to complete these projects within three months.
