Now, apply online to make changes in 7/12 extracts

The state settlement commissioner’s office has developed a software to enable citizens to apply for the changes online by registering on the public data entry portal.

Citizens will no longer have to do the rounds of revenue offices to make any changes in the 7/12 extracts.

The state settlement commissioner’s office has developed a software to enable citizens to apply for the changes online by registering on the public data entry portal.

Once a citizen registers on the portal for changes in the mutation entry, s/he will be intimated about the same and the corrections will be reflected in the 7/12 extracts within 40 days, stated officials.

Sarita Narke, state director, Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme, said that this unique facility will enable any person with landholding in any part of the state to apply for changes using this software sitting at home.

“It is easy to use and will ensure less footfall in the talathi offices, weed out middlemen and bring about more transparency in the process. Moreover, citizens can track and receive intimations about the status of the applications,” she told.

Though the facility was launched two years ago during the Covid period, the awareness about it is low and there is a need for more people to use this facility for carrying out changes in the 7/12 extracts, she said.

The process, as explained by officials from the settlement commissioner’s office, is simple.

After visiting the Mahabhumi website, one has to click on e-Hakk link, which will open to the public data entry portal on the website. After registering, one can go to 7/12 mutations and choose from 10 services, including applications for corrections, name addition and heirship.

Each of the services will require scanned documents after which an application ID is generated. This is then forwarded to talathi online, who will check the documents. If all the queries are cleared, the mutation number will be generated.

By using this number, the document status can be tracked, said an official. Once the mutation number is generated, the status of the application can be checked on the main Mahabhumi website under Bhulekh and also the Aapli Chavadi portal.
