The property tax department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is in the process of implementing new software designed to facilitate the self-assessment of newly constructed properties or modifications to existing ones within the city. Applicants seeking new property valuations will have the capability to enter property information into the software, which will then provide an estimate of the anticipated property tax liability.
Upon submission of a self-assessment request, officials will review the provided information and issue a property tax bill. Presently, applicants must request new property valuations, with officials carrying out the assessments. However, the introduction of this software will empower applicants to conduct self-assessments of their properties, thereby offering them preliminary insights into the expected property tax.
The self-assessment software was a topic of discussion during the revenue committee meeting convened on Wednesday. Furthermore, an income of Rs 708 crore was generated from advance property tax, benefiting approximately 5.25 lakh citizens through the advance property tax rebate scheme.
