The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Friday sealed 4,564 properties as the owners defaulted on their pending property tax dues.
The tax and revenue department sealed 1,761 properties located in the west zone, the highest number of properties sealed zone wise. AMC said that 720 properties were sealed in the east zone and 739 in the north-west zone.
The AMC collected Rs 14.83 crore in property tax on Friday. In the last four days the civic body has collected Rs 36.67 crores in property tax.
Sources said that recently, the civic body has announced a tax interest rebate scheme in which if property owners who have not paid tax for two decades, pay the entire tax amount then the civic body will let go of the 100% interest amount.
The statement said that the department has sealed 16,333 properties in April 1, 2022 to January 12, 2023 period and the sealing drive will continue in the next months.
