NHAI hikes toll user charges by 9%-11% on NH across Uttar Pradesh

With the beginning of the new financial year, the National Highway Authority of India increases the toll user fee across Uttar Pradesh.

As per the hike that is effective from today, the user charge will increase by 9% to 11%, depending upon the type of vehicle. With this annual revision of toll fees by the NHAI, highway travel is set to become more expensive in Uttar Pradesh now.

Toll charge goes up by ₹5 to ₹65!

Notably, the toll user charge on the National Highways is revised every year on April 1 and September 1. With this year’s price hike, the toll fee across Uttar Pradesh will go up by ₹5-10 for light vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans per trip. However, the heavy vehicles will have to shell out almost an extra ₹65 for each trip. This hike will further increase the already escalating prices of essential commodities across the state.

Meanwhile, as per the announcement made by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Lok Sabha on March 22, toll gates located within 60 Kilometres of proximity will be removed in the next three months. In UP, there are scores of toll gates that are located close to each other. For instance, the Ahmadpur Toll Plaza and Raunahi Toll Plaza located between Lucknow and Faizabad on NH 28 are only 55 Kilometres apart.
