The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway, a project initiated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will feature an 88 km long, six-lane access-controlled roadway designed to enhance connectivity between Agra in Uttar Pradesh and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.
A concession agreement for this project was signed in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and senior officials from both NHAI and the Concessionaire. The expressway will be constructed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model. The route will commence at Deori village in Agra and conclude at Susera village in Gwalior, with an estimated capital expenditure of Rs 4613 crore, as reported.
This expressway will traverse through Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, facilitating high-speed travel between Agra and Gwalior while alleviating congestion on the Agra-Gwalior segment of NH-44.
It is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance the logistics efficiency for commercial and freight transport among Agra, Dholpur, Morena, and Gwalior. Additionally, the expressway will pass through the National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary, where a cable-stayed bridge over the Chambal River will be constructed to safeguard the habitat of the endangered ‘Gadiyal’. The design will also incorporate sound barriers and light cutters. The infrastructure will include eight major bridges, 23 minor bridges, six flyovers, one Rail-Over-Bridge, and 192 culverts.
