Corporation officials disconnected water connection to a private property in Madurai west zone on Saturday for not paying property tax for the last seven years.
The owner of the property at Karpagam Nagar in Villapuram has not paid a total sum of 23,280 from 2015-16. Earlier, a notice was sent by the corporation to the person.
Since he failed to pay the amount within the stipulated time, officials disconnected the connection.
In the last one month, officials have been actively collecting property tax, underground drainage tax and drinking water tax from private organisations, hospitals, government buildings, private schools, shopping malls and theatres.
