JSW Cement, a subsidiary of the USD23 billion JSW Group, has inaugurated a new cement grinding facility in Sambalpur, Odisha, through its affiliate Shiva Cement.
This facility, which has a capacity of 1.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), has been financed and managed by the subsidiary via a commercial agreement with Bhushan Power and Steel, thereby enhancing JSW Cementās footprint in Eastern India to cater to the increasing regional demand.
With this addition, JSW Cementās overall grinding capacity across India now totals 21.6 MTPA. With Shiva Cement’s facility strategically positioned near Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, the unit takes advantage of its proximity to raw materials and contributes to the industrial development of the region.
CEO Nilesh Narwekar emphasized the significance of the unit in broadening JSW Cementās environmentally friendly initiatives while aligning with the companyās objective to achieve a grinding capacity of 41.85 MTPA nationwide. The company upholds the lowest carbon emission intensity in the industry, reflecting its dedication to sustainable development.
