The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, recognized as one of India’s leading greenfield smart industrial cities within the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), has obtained environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for a development area spanning 1,670 acres.
An official from the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) confirmed this significant achievement. ‘Led by Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL), a special purpose vehicle established by both central and state governments, this regulatory approval represents a pivotal step in positioning Bihar as a center for industrial advancement.
The initiative combines economic potential with environmental stewardship, with the goal of establishing a vibrant hub for innovation and inclusive growth. IMC Gaya is set to transform Bihar’s industrial landscape, with Bodh Gaya becoming the state’s inaugural integrated industrial township,’ stated the official.
The project, linked to the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), aims to bolster regional industrial capabilities and create world-class infrastructure. The IMC will encompass over 1,000 acres of designated industrial plots, incorporating zoned development, multimodal transport access, utilities, and logistics facilities. This initiative is being executed by BIMCGL, a partnership between the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) and BIADA, receiving comprehensive support from both central and state authorities.
A recent joint site inspection was conducted to evaluate the proposed water storage systems and pipeline configurations, ensuring sustainable water infrastructure for the township. This assessment followed a prior review of road connectivity, underscoring the project’s dedication to establishing a cohesive and fully integrated industrial ecosystem.
