Gadkari to lay foundation stone of Kanpur ring road project on Jan 8

Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone of the 93.2 km

Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone of the 93.2 km long Kanpur Ring Road project of the NHAI on January 8.

The ministry informed the project directors of NHAI through e-mail about Gadkari’s arrival at programmes organised at Rae Bareli, Kanpur and Unnao districts.

The Union minister’s personal assistant informed through e-mail that Nitin Gadkari would attend the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony in Rae Bareli, Kanpur and Unnao on January 8. On January 8, he will first inaugurate the Lalganj-Unnao four-lane highway in Rae Bareli.

From there, the Union minister will reach Kanpur, where he will lay the foundation stone of NHAI’s ambitious Ring Road Road Project. He will also inaugurate Kanpur-Aligarh GT Road four-lane road and Chakeri-Prayagraj six-lane road.

From there, the minister will go to Unnao and lay the foundation stone of the Unnao portion of the Ring Road and inaugurate the Unnao-Lalganj four-lane road. Both project directors of the NHAI received this information through email.

NHAI project director Prashant Dubey said work on GT Road was on at a fast pace. The 3km road from Kalyanpur IIT Gate of the city to Mandhana will be completed by January 4. Railway overbridge of Bithoor railway line was also almost ready and would be open for traffic by January 4.

Sources said that the Railways will block that segment for January 2, when work on three spans of Mandhana elevated flyover would begin.
