DC Ghanshyam Thori has asked police to register FIRs against 99 real-estate developers under Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act (Papra) for developing illegal colonies in the district over the last two years.
Of these realtors, 12 fall in the jurisdiction of the police commissionerate, while 87 under the Jalandhar rural police.
The DC, who has additional charge of chief administrator, Jalandhar Development Authority, has sent a list of illegal colonies developed in two years to police along with JDA’s letters for lodging FIRs against owners.
The DC said: “Earlier, the JDA had written to both police commissionerate and the rural police about the mushrooming of illegal colonies and now we ask them what action they took.”
