EOW books 30 firms, societies for duping in name of land pooling

According to police, DDA is yet to authorise any project under the policy. “Nobody has any authority to collect payments in the name of the land pooling policy of DDA,” an officer said.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police said it had booked 33 societies and companies in the past few years for allegedly duping thousands of people of crores of rupees on the pretext of offering plots/flats under the land pooling policy of Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

According to police, DDA is yet to authorise any project under the policy. “Nobody has any authority to collect payments in the name of the land pooling policy of DDA,” an officer said.

Police said the claims being made by various builders and societies were misleading and incorrect. According to Delhi Police’s annual report of 2021, EOW has arrested 20 people. At least 650 investors were allegedly duped of approximately Rs 140 crore in 2021 in the name of providing houses under the land pooling policy in Dwarka. In 2020, about 20 such cheating cases were registered.

The 33 societies and companies against whom cheating cases have been registered are Colors Housing society, ITD Homes Welfare society in Pitampura, Revanta Multi-State CGHS Ltd, Delhi Infratech (Delhi Gate), Anuradha Delhi Awas Vikas, Vedic Housing Co-operative society, New Delhi Housing, Delhi Group Housing society, Vedic Housing Co-operative society in Dwarka, Dwarka Heights E Co-operative society, CGHS Housing Yojna, IT Engineers Welfare society, Antriksh New Dwarka, Rudra Welfare society, Platinum Multi State CGHS, Aerocity Dwarka Multistate CGHS Ltd, Khusi Properties and Developers Pvt Ltd, MTNL Housing society, Central Secretariat Services Officers society, Urban Greek operated by Antriksh Infratech Pvt Ltd, ABS Vision Home society, Revanta Multi-State CGHS Pvt Ltd, Kamp Developers Pvt Ltd, Jeevan Ashray Welfare society at Dwarka, Diamond Multi-State CGHS, Antriksh Luxury Living Pvt Ltd, Vaikunth Multi-State CGHS society, Samadhan Social Welfare society, Skylark Multi-State Group Housing society, and Green Residency Welfare society.

“Various attractive schemes were floated in the market and builders demanded registration fees and initial payments for booking plots/flats under the policy,” the report read. It also pointed out that DDA had not issued any licence or approval to any society, and no one was authorised to advertise, market, and book and sell plots/flats in the land pooling areas without any prior registration of a project under RERA.
