DTCP to recover demolition cost from builders of illegal colonies

The cost will include expenditure on JCB machine, labour and one day salary of police personnel and officials of DTCP engaged in the demolition drive.

The department of town and country planning (DTCP) will now recover the cost of demolition of illegal colonies from its developers and property dealers. The department is going to issue recovery notices against the developers of illegal colonies against which DTCP had carried out demolition drives in past few years.

The cost will include expenditure on JCB machine, labour and one day salary of police personnel and officials of DTCP engaged in the demolition drive.

The department is calculating the cost incurred on the demolition of different colonies in the past three years and issue notices to the respective developers.

The department is also preparing the list of sealing drives carried out in the past three years to issue the recovery notices.

Besides, demolition of illegal colonies department has sealed multiple buildings for illegal construction after obtaining occupation certificate and illegal guest houses operating from residential areas.

Senior town planner (STP) Sanjeev Man said that direction has been issued to district town planners of Gurgaon, Rewari and Mahendergarh to speed up the demolition of illegal colonies in their respective areas. “Expenditure occurred during the drive will be recovered from the developer and property dealers,” he said.

Meanwhile, to keep an eye on the officials of the department and their working, all the offices of DTCP across the state will now be under CCTV surveillance. Director town and country planning KM Pandurang said, “After installation of CCTV cameras they will be able to keep watch on people visiting the office and for what purpose.”
