The Demtech 2023 Conference and Exhibition, held in Bengaluru on September 28th and 29th, 2023, hosted 450 delegates from 10 countries and featured 45 booths. Constrofacilitator was there to cover the conference organised by the Indian Demolition Association (IDA). The second edition of Demtech was even more successful than the inaugural event in 2019, underling the Indian demolition industry’s search for avenues to network, connect and grow. While the first edition was a path-breaker, the second, cemented the fact that the demolition, recycling and remediation industry is ready for such events.
The first day commenced with an inauguration by Chief Guest Mr. K. Subramanian, Executive Vice Chairman of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. Following the traditional lighting of the lamp, Mr. Mohan Ramanathan, IDA Founder-Chairman, and Mr. Jan Hermanson, Editor of PDI magazine in Sweden, delivered the welcome address. After the introductions and the Chief Guest’s remarks, the proceedings commenced.
Keynote lectures were delivered on 28th Sept.2023 by:-
- Mr. Mohan Ramanathan and Ms. Kate Bester (Jet Demolition – South Africa). The topic was “A Perspective on the Past, Present and Future Status of Demolition and Recycling in India and Worldwide”.
- Mr. Anurag Sinha (EIL) spoke on “C&D Waste Management for Businesses, Community and Environment”.

A recap of the event by Mr. Fazrullah Basha from IDA and a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Piyush Gandhi from IDA. Importantly, the new incoming IDA Chairman, Mr. Sriram Matte, was announced, and the outgoing Chairman and IDA Founder, Mr. Mohan Ramanathan, welcomed and wished the new office bearers of IDA.
Demtech 2023 concluded with the National Anthem. During the event dignitaries and delegates were felicitated with mementos and certificates.The day drew to a close with an open band and dinner. The takeaways by delegates were encouraging. Feedback responses are available on the Demtech website.
It should be noted that the proceedings of the two day program had to be shortened due to an all-Karnataka bandh on 29th Sept. However, this did not faze the mood of all delegates who were understanding of the situation.
