Bengaluru’s Metro Phase 3, commonly referred to as the Orange Line, is now anticipated to be completed by May 2031, which is a year later than initially scheduled. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has modified the design to incorporate double-decker flyovers at certain segments, with the objective of alleviating future traffic congestion.

Nevertheless, this alteration has resulted in extended deadlines and increased expenses, with officials projecting a five percent rise in the total budget of Rs 15,611 crore. Initiated in August 2025, Phase 3 covers a distance of 44.65 km and includes 31 elevated stations across two corridors—JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura (32.15 km) and Hosahalli to Kadabagere (12.5 km).

Construction tenders are anticipated to be released in November 2025, with work expected to commence in late 2025 or early 2026, segmented into eight packages over a span of five and a half years. The Orange Line will offer essential connectivity, linking to the Green, Purple, Blue, Red, and Pink Lines, thereby further enhancing the integration of the city’s metro network.
