In its march towards the $1 trillion-dollar goal, Uttar Pradesh will hold the fourth edition of Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC 4.0) at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here from Monday, launching over 14,000 projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, defence minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and over 4,500 investors, and guests coming from across India and abroad.
These projects coming up in 60 districts of the state would generate more than 34 lakh job opportunities, said a government spokesperson. Over 8,000 of these projects were pledged during UP Global Investors Summit (UPGIS), held last year, when investment proposals of Rs 40 lakh crore were received. The MoUs for remaining 6,000 projects were signed after the GIS, the industries department officials said. As many as 262 of these projects are worth over Rs 500 crore and 889 between Rs 100-500 crore.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, PM Modi will highlight the government’s accomplishments and share insights with potential investors while the CM will present his views regarding the suitable environment for industries in UP as well as future plans. Rajnath and UP’s industries minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ will also speak on the occasion.
Dheeraj Hinduja, chairman, Hinduja Group; JP Park, chief executive officer, South West Asia Samsung; Sussane Pulverer, CEO, Ingka (IKEA); Jindal Mehta, managing director, Torrent Group and Jalaj Dani, chairman, Adverb Technologies will also address the inaugural session.
While the main three-day event, which will also have an exhibition from potential investors, is being held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan of the city, all 75 districts of the state will host simultaneous ground breaking events. The second day will have sessions on ‘UP — Emerging Destination for Foreign Investments in India’, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ and ‘Destination UP — Emerging Hub for AI in India’.
On Wednesday, CM Yogi will also lay the foundation of Ashol Leyland’s EV plant at the site for erstwhile Scooters India.
“We are hosting over 4,000 participants from around the globe, comprising esteemed industrialists, Fortune Global/India 500 companies, foreign investor partners, Ambassadors/High Commissioners, and other distinguished guests,” an officer at the Invest UP said, adding that nodal officers have been appointed to manage hotel accommodations for special guests, while key personnel have also been appointed for the airport, help desk, vehicle arrangement, parking as well as registration.
The event venue will also be showcasing the state’s achievement over the past few years. “For this, ten distinct pavilions have been erected at the exhibition site, showcasing a diverse range of sectors including AI, Textile, Data Centre/Electronics & IT, Warehouse & Logistics, Film City, Invest UP/Top Investors, Medical Devices, EV & Renewable Energy, and Defence/Aerospace,” officials said.
They also claimed that several attractions have been added to make the visitor’s experience inspiring and memorable. “German hangars, constructed from steel shipping containers, have been assembled for the event. Additionally, 3D replica models of various defence equipment and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, will be on display. The officials also informed that attendees will also get a peek into the upcoming film city project in the YEIDA area.
