Bhullar stated that the rural development and panchayats department had sanctioned 40,326 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.

As many as 34,784 houses have been handed over to needy families in villages under the initiative of providing pucca houses, Punjab’s rural development and panchayats minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said on Monday.

Bhullar stated that the rural development and panchayats department had sanctioned 40,326 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.

Among these, 34,784 houses have already been allocated to eligible families in need. On the same day, an amount of Rs 21.23 crore was released to eligible beneficiaries for the construction of the remaining 5,559 houses. The completion of these houses is expected by December of this year.

The minister further clarified that out of the Rs 21.23 crore disbursed to eligible beneficiaries for the construction of pucca houses, 1,139 beneficiaries will receive the first instalment of Rs 30,000 each, 1,712 beneficiaries will be provided with the second instalment of Rs 72,000 each, and 3,051 beneficiaries will receive the third instalment of Rs 18,000 each.

Bhullar emphasized that the Punjab government remains dedicated to providing pucca houses to individuals without proper housing or those living in kuchha/tented accommodations.

This initiative also includes provisions for basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity connections, cooking gas, and washroom facilities, along with ensuring 90 days of employment under MGNREGA, cattle sheds for animals, soak pits, and vermicompost pits.
