Over 4.93 lakh houses built under PMAY-Urban in Gujarat

Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs, Kaushal Kishore on Monday said that central assistance of Rs 2,398.44 crore was used to build pucca houses in the last three years.

The Union government told Parliament that 4,93,136 houses have been built in Gujarat in the past three years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) ‘Housing for All’ mission.

Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha by MP Parimal Nathwani, Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs, Kaushal Kishore on Monday said that central assistance of Rs 2,398.44 crore was used to build pucca houses in the last three years.

Nathwani sought to know the number of pucca houses built under PMAY(U) for economically weaker sections in urban areas in the last three years along with details of financial assistance provided and used by the government under various centrally-supported schemes over the last three years.

In his reply, the minister said the scheme has three centrally sponsored components (CSS) namely, beneficiary-led Individual house construction or enhancement (BLC), affordable housing in partnership (AHP), and in-situ slum redevelopment (ISSR), and one central sector component (CS) namely, the credit linked subsidy scheme (CLSS).

The CSS components of the scheme cover beneficiaries from the economically weaker sections (EWS) with an annual household income of up to Rs 3 lakh whereas the CS component of the scheme covers beneficiaries with annual household incomes of up to Rs 18 lakh.
