Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will receive Rs 167.60 crore from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) towards the acquisition of land for bullet train project.
NHSRCL is set to acquire land from VMC on the alignment for the bullet train. The alignment of the train traverses through the city from Chhani on one end and to Maneja on the other.
The VMC will have to part with 1,63,265.72 square metres of land in the city. The land includes space earmarked for proposed roads, existing roads and pathways as well as open plots. VMC will be compensated at rates double the ‘jantri’ or official government rates for land.
The tourist information centre erected near the railway station will also have to be razed for the project. It was constructed recently and the VMC will be compensated for that work too.
