The Haryana government has established June 30, 2026, as the ultimate deadline for landowners to engage in the ongoing e-Bhoomi initiative, which involves the acquisition of land with the consent of owners for urban, commercial, and institutional development throughout the state.
The Haryana Shahari Awas Pradhikaran (HSVP) intends to acquire land to initiate new sectors. Notably, HSVP has not introduced any new sectors in Gurgaon over the past two decades. As per HSVP, the program has pinpointed 1.7 lakh acres across 71 towns, rendering it one of the largest voluntary land procurement initiatives in the state.
In the initial phase, the government is in the process of acquiring nearly 47,000 acres. Land parcels have been classified according to specific town and project needs, and the potential zones for each district have been uploaded onto the e-Bhoomi portal. “The scheme is designed to establish transparent, digital, and time-bound processes for land acquisition, ensuring direct payments to landowners and removing procedural delays,” stated a senior officer from HSVP.
HSVP has published town-specific acquisition estimates, available acreage, and contact information for field officers to support landowners. Officials have indicated that those interested in selling should finalize their consent and document submissions well ahead of the June 30 deadline. “The portal guarantees complete transparency — from the uploading of land details to the final approval — and encourages landowners to utilize the digital interface instead of seeking intermediaries,” the official remarked.
In Gurgaon, HSVP has recognized several high-growth corridors for future development. Significant clusters include the Southern Peripheral Road (sectors 76-80), the Dwarka Expressway belt (sectors 99A-104), New Gurgaon along NH8 (sectors 82A-86), and the Pataudi-Farrukhnagar stretch (sectors 88A, 89A, 95A, 95B). Collectively, these areas will necessitate approximately 24,000 acres for phased development.
Officials indicated that the expansion is essential to accommodate the increasing demand for housing, facilitate forthcoming infrastructure initiatives, and enhance long-term urban planning. Over the past twenty years, the majority of real estate development in Gurgaon has been driven by private developers, resulting in property prices that are unaffordable for many residents.
In the initial phase, approximately 17,358 acres across 51 sectors are anticipated to be acquired. Through the land acquisition strategy for new residential and commercial sectors, HSVP aims to alleviate pressure on existing urban centers and guarantee a consistent supply of serviced plots in accordance with planned development regulations throughout Haryana.
Previously, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini sanctioned land acquisition under the e-Bhoomi scheme in various urban estates where both draft and final development plans have been released. HSVP has instructed its estate offices statewide to commence procurement. A phased schedule has been developed and authorized by the chief administrator of HSVP.
