The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) successfully recovered approximately Rs 1 crore in property tax within a span of two days as part of a special recovery initiative. A six-member flying squad was deployed to various wards to collect outstanding dues from property owners whose arrears surpassed Rs 50,000.
On Friday, Municipal Commissioner Yaspal Meena convened a review meeting with revenue and executive officers to enhance coordination for ongoing collection efforts. Officials indicated that property owners who do not settle their dues by the specified deadline would face consequences such as bank account freezes and property attachments.
The corporation has already issued notices that prevent the sale of properties owned by significant defaulters. These measures are being implemented in accordance with the Bihar Municipal Act 2007 and the revenue recovery regulations established in 2013. Additionally, the corporation has informed defaulters via SMS about the potential legal repercussions.
Residents have the opportunity to take advantage of a one-time settlement scheme until March 31, which provides a waiver on interest and penalties for those who remit the principal amount.
