Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is scheduled to visit Puducherry today to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several infrastructure projects.
The visit will begin with the inauguration of a four-kilometer elevated corridor, costing Rs 436 crore, which will connect Indira Gandhi Square to Rajiv Gandhi Square. During his visit, Gadkari will also dedicate three significant national highway projects to the nation, with a total value exceeding Rs 2,000 crore.
Among these projects is the 38-kilometer four-lane section of National Highway 32, linking Puducherry to Poondiankuppam, developed at a cost of Rs 1,588 crore. Furthermore, improvement works on a 14-kilometer segment of the East Coast Road, with an investment of Rs 25 crore, are set to commence.
These initiatives are part of the central governmentās continuous efforts to enhance infrastructure and connectivity within the Union Territory and its neighboring areas. Officials have indicated that these projects will greatly alleviate traffic congestion and foster regional economic growth.
