JSW Energy announced on Monday the divestment of 2.5 crore equity shares in JSW Steel for ₹3,150 crore via a bulk transaction on the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. Following this transaction, the company’s remaining holding consists of 4,50,38,350 equity shares of JSW Steel Ltd, as indicated in a regulatory filing.
The filing states that the company has sold 2,50,00,000 equity shares (with a face value of Re 1 each) of JSW Steel Ltd through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd on May 18, as part of a strategic liquidity initiative, generating gross proceeds of ₹3,150 crore.
This partial monetisation of the shareholding in JSW Steel Ltd not only frees up capital for advancing the company’s growth strategy but also enhances the return on capital employed, thereby underscoring the company’s dedication to prudent capital allocation and long-term value creation for its shareholders, it further noted.
