Drone survey of Uttar Pradesh villages to be completed by June

Recently chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with officials of the revenue department and directed the officials to complete the drone survey in the shortest time possible.

Leading among the states in central government run Pradhan Mantri SVAMITVA Yojana, Uttar Pradesh is expected to complete the drone mapping of properties in rural inhabited areas by June month of this calendar year.

Launched in April 2020, the scheme is claimed to be a reformative step towards establishment of clear ownership of property in rural inhabited areas by mapping of land parcels using drone technology and providing ‘Record of Rights’ to village household owners with issuance of legal ownership cards (Property cards/Title deeds) to the property owners.

Commissioner and secretary, Uttar Pradesh revenue department, Manisha Trighatia said, “Drone survey has been completed in 90,900 villages.

Along with this, ‘gharaunis’ of 34,193 villages have been prepared.

“Thus, so far a total of 50,58,229 ‘gharaunis’ have been prepared, out of which 34,69,879 ‘gharaunis’ were distributed till June 25, 2022. Since then 15,88,350 new ‘gharaunis’ have been prepared. By June, the drone survey will be completed in all the villages,” she said.

The SVAMITVA scheme is being implemented with the collaborative efforts of the ministry of panchayati raj, state revenue department, state panchayati raj department and survey of India.

It covers multifarious aspects viz. facilitating monetisation of properties and enabling bank loans; reducing property related disputes. The objective of the scheme is to make rural India economically strong and self-reliant. Through this scheme, the government wants to empower villagers by using technology.
