YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to launch MSME infra projects today

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch several infrastructure development projects and also lay the foundation for a few others through virtual mode on Wednesday.

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch several infrastructure development projects and also lay the foundation for a few others through virtual mode on Wednesday. The projects are being developed by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) with a focus to attract an investment of 1,782 crore.

The chief minister will also inaugurate four flatted factory complexes built at a cost of 286 crore. The new infrastructure is expected to create new benchmarks in the MSME sector besides generating employment got over 18,000 people. APIIC managing director Pravin Kumar said they are putting up all efforts to foster the growth and development of micro and small enterprise (MSE) sector in the state.

He emphasized that APIIC, under the ‘Ease of Doing Business State Reform Action Plan’, ensures plug and play infrastructure facilities on land earmarked for industrial purpose and industrial parks. “APIIC has so far developed 11 projects worth 84 crore under the MSE-CDP.

The implementation of the Centre’s micro and small enterprise-cluster development programme (MSE-CDP) has played a pivotal role in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of the MSE sector in the state,” he said, adding that they are also gearing up to take up another 28 new MSE-CDP projects at a cost of 355 crore. The proposed MSE-CDP is expected to attract an investment of 2,200 crore and generate employment opportunities for 25,000 people, he added.

The state has 6.58 lakh registered MSME units as on Nov 2023. The two lakh registered MSMEs have generated a cumulative 12.62 lakh jobs in the last four years. As overall support to MSMEs, the state government has been conducting baseline survey of MSMEs and creating MSE facilitation councils, developing technology centres for upskilling, and providing infrastructure facilitation through cluster development programmes.
