Shree Cement has declared an investment of Rs 1,800 crore to establish a new integrated cement plant in Meghalaya, representing a strategic initiative to enhance its presence in the North-eastern region. The project will be located in Village Daistong within the East Jaintia Hills district and is anticipated to be completed by March 2028.
The new facility will possess a clinker capacity of 0.95 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a cement production capacity of 0.99 MTPA. This will mark the company’s inaugural manufacturing unit at the designated site, underscoring its commitment to expanding operations in previously untapped markets. The company has indicated that the investment will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt, ensuring a well-rounded financing strategy.
As the demand for cement is projected to rise in tandem with infrastructure and construction activities in the region, the new plant is designed to enhance supply efficiency and more effectively meet regional demand. This expansion is also in line with the company’s long-term growth strategy aimed at increasing capacity and bolstering its presence throughout India, especially in emerging areas such as the Northeast.
