On Wednesday, Chandigarh’s municipal commissioner, Amit Kumar, urged the public to settle their payments within the designated timeframe to benefit from the property tax rebate. Residential property owners will receive a 20% rebate, while commercial property owners will enjoy a 10% discount.
This rebate is valid until May 31; thereafter, residents will incur penalties and interest. It has been noted that the tax revenue is a significant source of income for the municipal corporation, and these funds will be allocated to essential civic services, including sanitation, road maintenance, water supply, and urban development projects throughout the city. Citizens are also encouraged to verify their current tax demand and any outstanding arrears on the official e-Sampark portal prior to making their payments, ensuring that all dues are settled within the specified rebate period to qualify for the available rebate benefits.
