Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has realized a long-held aspiration of the Barbil residents by laying the foundation stone for the Barbil Bypass Ring Road Project. During the event on Monday, the Chief Minister inaugurated 24 projects with a total expenditure of ₹29.41 crore and laid the foundation stones for 51 additional projects, which have a budget of ₹326.43 crore.
The proposed Bypass-cum-Ring Road for Barbil city will cover a distance of 18.326 kilometres, with a total investment of ₹1,581.21 crore allocated for its completion.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the forthcoming construction of an electrical sub-station at a cost of ₹298 crore to benefit the Joda, Basudevpur, and Barbil regions. He also instructed the district administration to accelerate the development of the 8-lane Barbil-Paradip road.
The Chief Minister emphasized that infrastructure, including improved roads, bridges, electricity, and drinking water, is essential for creating a “Prosperous Odisha” (Samruddha Odisha). “Our government has prioritized infrastructure from the very beginning,” he stated. “To foster a prosperous state, it is crucial that our districts, cities, and villages also thrive.”
The government has resolved to upgrade all roads leading to mining areas into 8-lane highways.A grid sub-station for Keonjhar has recently received approval from the Cabinet. This ₹1,647 crore project is anticipated to be completed within three years, ensuring a reliable and continuous power supply for both residential and industrial sectors.
The initiative to establish a Mega Steel Plant in Keonjhar is currently in progress, with the foundation stone set to be laid soon. The Chief Minister declared that the state government would extend all necessary administrative support to any industrial entity investing over ₹10,000 crore and creating employment for more than 10,000 youths in Keonjhar.
The Barbil ITI is poised to transform into a Centre of Excellence, showcasing the capabilities of the state’s talented youth. The Chief Minister underscored the dedication to establishing a “Prosperous Odisha” by the year 2036, guided by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He pointed out various advantageous initiatives from the Union Budget.
During his visit to Barbil, the Chief Minister attended the Prime Minister’s speech regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. He remarked that the 33 percent reservation for women would significantly bolster their economic and social empowerment nationwide. Additionally, he indicated that with the increase in seats in the Odisha Legislative Assembly to 196, the representation of women legislators would grow, thereby amplifying the voices of women in the state.
