The 9th International Conference on Emerging Technologies in Flooring Systems marked a significant milestone in the nine-year journey of the Indian Flooring Association (IFA). Over nearly a decade, the conference has evolved from a modest technical gathering into a premier platform that consistently brings together stakeholders from across the flooring industry to share insights, innovations, and best practices. This year, the conference was held in Pune, a city recognized as a key centre for manufacturing, logistics, and infrastructure development.
Mr. Vinayak G. Thorat, Director-Western Region, Venkataramanan Associates, was the Chief Guest of the 9th International Conference. The conference was attended by over 300 delegates from India and Southeast Asia, as well as other international delegates, representing a diverse mix of industry stakeholders. EPC contractors and project managers accounted for 45 percent of the delegates, product manufacturers and turnkey service providers together made up 30 percent, while flooring contractors and end-users together represented 25 percent. The conference served as a knowledge-sharing and networking platform focused on technical advancements and best practices in flooring systems.
Sessions at the conference covered advanced topics such as floors for robotic operations, conductive flooring for data centres, and restoration methods for oil-soaked or ageing slabs etc. Delegates also engaged in discussions on subgrade and subbase preparation, screed system selection, moisture-related challenges in concrete, and key contractual considerations. A combination of case studies and expert-led presentations ensured practical learning, enabling professionals to address project-specific concerns while staying updated on the latest industry trends.

The conference also served as a practical forum for professionals from sectors including warehousing, cold storage, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and EPC to directly engage with structural engineers, contractors, consultants, and product manufacturers.
