The state government on Monday approved five town planning (TP) schemes for the cities of Ahmedabad and Surat. While four TP schemes have been cleared for Ahmedabad, one has been approved for Surat, a CMO release said.
The schemes cleared for Ahmedabad include one final TP scheme, one draft TP scheme, and two preliminary TP schemes. One preliminary TP scheme has been cleared for Surat, the release added.
The release said these areas in Ahmedabad and Surat will witness rapid development as the urban bodies begin providing infrastructure such as roads and drainage.
A provision has been made to construct 10,900 housing units for economically weaker sections (EWS), the release said. In all, 69.41 hectares will be made available.
The draft TP scheme which has been cleared for Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority is TP Scheme No. 413 (Enasan-Muthiya-Bilasiya). The final TP scheme of Ahmedabad which has received clearance is TP Scheme No. 54 (Ognaj).The two preliminary TP schemes which have been cleared for Ahmedabad are TP Scheme No. 68 (Kotarpur) and TP Scheme No. 35 (Jagatpur).
