The Mayor of Delhi announcedon Tuesday that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has prolonged the deadline for the Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025-26 toApril 30.

Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh announced the extension, stating that the choice was made due to the favorable reaction from the public and to enable additional taxpayers to clear their outstanding dues under the Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO) scheme.

He encouraged property owners and tenants to take advantage of the program, calling it a “golden opportunity” to eliminate unpaid debts without facing interest or penalties. The mayor announced that the program will cease after April 30.

Under SUNIYO, taxpayers can receive a full exemption from property tax, interest, and penalties for the years before 2020-21, as long as they pay the principal tax amount for the current fiscal year 2025-26 and forthe five years prior from 2020-21 to 2024-25

Officials said the late fee will remain unchanged at five per cent, as applicable during the February-March extension period.
