Indore district administration has provided possession of as many as 70 hectares and 106 hectares of land to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) respectively for construction of Indore-Edlabad (NH 347 BG) and Indore-Harda (NH 59A) project.

Indore district administration has provided possession of as many as 70 hectares and 106 hectares of land to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) respectively for construction of Indore-Edlabad (NH 347 BG) and Indore-Harda (NH 59A) project.

For construction of a four-lane highway of Indore’s stretch of both the major projects, NHAI had required a total around 176 hectares of land that was stuck. For Indore-Harda four lane project, local administration had identified around 110 hectares of land in eight villages including Khajrana, Kanadia, Begum Khedi, Chuahankhedi, Khemana, Khudel Khurd, Ankya and Gogakhedi of the district.

Of this, around 20 hectares is government’s land while the remaining about 90 hectares of land will be acquired from farmers/owners of said villages. Local administrative officials had estimated the market value of said around 90 hectares of land as about Rs 235 Crores, which they have demanded from NHAI to distribute the compensation among the affected people.

Similarly, local administration had recently passed awards of around Rs 44 Crore to the affected farmers as compensation to acquire the remaining seven hectares of land, required for construction of a stretch of Indore-Edlabad Road passing through the district. The union minister Nitin Gadkari on August 1 laid foundation stone to start construction of the 33.4 KM stretch of Indore-Edlabad Road (package 2) costing Rs 1,163 Crore between Tejaji Nagar and Balwada village of Khargone’s Barwaha Tehsil.

“We have written to NHAI, informing the senior officials about giving possession of around 70 hectares and 106 hectares of land for both the major projects. They are requested to coordinate with naib tehsildar for physical possession of the lands for road construction” ADM Pavan Jain said.

Presently, a road construction is underway between IT Park Square and Tejaji Nagar while construction of a four-lane between Indore-Balwada as part of Indore-Edlabad project will benefit thousands of commuters along with easing traffic ahead of Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain. Similarly, Indore district’s four-lane and six-lane road connectivity from all the corners will be strengthened with Indore-Harda road construction.Presently, there is a huge load of traffic on Indore-Dewas, Indore-Ujjain, Indore-Ratlam, Indore-Dhar and Indore-Manpur road.
