Citizens having land not more than 3 cottah will no longer need to apply for a building sanction plan manually to bypass unnecessary delays in getting the construction permit from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
They can apply online and get the plans approved in 15 days provided the documents that they submit comply with the civic building rules.
Mayor Firhad Hakim on Saturday asked the municipal commissioner Binod Kumar to look into the matter and issue a circular in this regard.
Hakim asked the municipal commissioner to ensure that the owners of small land are not harassed and they are given the advantage of a hassle-free online system.
Hakim gave such an instruction after a call from a citizen during the weekly talk to mayor session. The person complained of inaction in sanctioning the building plans he had applied for a two cottah land.
“For the structures constructed on not more than a three cottah land, we need to sanction building plans online and it shouldn’t take more than 15 days,” said a KMC official.
