Pune-based private firm with the help of the Maharashtra state government's public works department (PWD) constructed a 39.69-km road between Pusegaon and Mhasurne in Satara in 24 hours

Pune-based private firm with the help of the Maharashtra state government’s public works department (PWD) constructed a 39.69-km road between Pusegaon and Mhasurne in Satara in 24 hours.

PWD has given a contract to Rajpath Infracon, which had set to construct a 30 km of road in a day. However, despite facing difficulties, the work of one lane bituminous concrete road of 39.69 km length was completed in 24 hours between 7 am on May 30 to 7 am May 31.

The Limca Book of Records has also recorded the performance of the Maharashtra Public Works Department.

Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan has congratulated the officers and employees of the department for enhancing the prestige of Maharashtra and the country by setting a record of completing one-way roads by working 24 hours in a row.

It is a matter of pride to set a record. But, it will be a bigger pride to break our own record and create new in future, he said, adding, ‘We will make policies to set new heights in the future by using modern technology and modern equipment, as well as to do quality and excellent work. Moreover, I have instructed the department to work in that direction.’

‘The work done by the construction department officials, employees and the engineers, staff and workers of the company is inspiring and commendable. For that, I heartily congratulate the entire system. We have all enhanced the dignity of Maharashtra and the country,’ he concluded.

For those unaware, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has curated a budget of INR 1,600 crores for repairing roads and potholes this year.
