Jharkhand ranks first in implementation of Smart City Mission schemes

Jharkhand has reached the first position in the recent ranking released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs based on the progress of the implementation of the Smart City Mission's schemes

Jharkhand has reached the first position in the recent ranking released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs based on the progress of the implementation of the Smart City Mission’s schemes running in different 100 cities of the country’s 36 states and union territories.

At the same time, state capital has risen to twelfth position in terms of progress of the ongoing mission plans in 100 cities. On the other hand, Delhi is at number 11 in the list of states and union territories and Bihar at number 27.

Earlier, there was a system of issuing ranking in one month, fortnight and week by the Smart City Mission. But now these rankings are updated every time through the online process.

In this ranking, the implementation and progress of the schemes run by the Smart City Mission are on the basis and the points for various tasks determined. Some important among these tasks on which scores are obtained were execution of tender process of the selected project by the concerned Smart City, issue of work order for the project, on completion of the projects, on allocation of funds and transfer to SPV by the Smart City Mission and the state government, Smart City Mission and at the expense of funds released by the state government, on sending the utility certificate to the central government at the time of the expenditure of the fund, on GPS tagging of projects, on holding timely meeting of city level advisory forum, on the financial progress of the work order and on the implementation of Smart City Mission Grant.

Notably, under the Smart City Mission in the capital Ranchi, a new city is being constructed on 656 acres of land in the Dhurwa region. The development of world class infrastructure for this city is taking place at a rapid pace. Development of roads, drinking water infrastructure, power infrastructure, drainage, sewerage, cycle lanes, pedestrian etc. are in the final stages.
