Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) is scheduled to inaugurate the Vadapalani–Panagal Park segment of Phase II’s Corridor 4 by March 2027, as per the established timeline. This 3.5 km section is part of the extensive 26.1 km Corridor 4, which extends from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. Progress is on track, with tunnelling already finalized between Vadapalani and Panagal Park.

The commencement of track-laying activities is anticipated shortly. At the Panagal Park station, structural development has advanced to the concourse and platform levels, while excavation work is ongoing at the lower levels. Additionally, a different segment of Corridor 4, connecting Poonamallee and Vadapalani, is expected to be operational first, potentially by February.

Upon becoming operational, the Vadapalani–Panagal Park segment will facilitate direct metro access to T Nagar, allowing passengers to navigate through the existing Phase I network and transfer at Vadapalani, thereby significantly decreasing travel duration.

Furthermore, Panagal Park station will play a crucial operational role, featuring crossover tracks for depot access and emergency situations.
