Kerala HC directs state govt to examine violations of registry and patta conditions

The high court has directed the state govt to immediately examine whether activities conducted on lands assigned under various rules of the Kerala Land Assignment Act violate the conditions of registry and patta.

The bench of Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and K V Jayakumar issued the directive in response to a petition filed by P B Satheesh, director of Nerkazhcha, a Thrissur-based association.

The petition sought the inspection of illegal activities on assigned lands across the state.

During a prior hearing, the govt submitted details regarding the formation of a three-tier task committee comprising state level, district level and taluk level committees.AdvtWhile approving the composition, the bench directed the chief secretary to provide a detailed list of the officers in the district and taluk level committees and the areas under their jurisdiction within three weeks. The petition has been adjourned to Jan 9 for further consideration.

In his plea, Satheesh requested an order ensuring that no activities violating registry and patta conditions are conducted on lands assigned under the Kerala Land Assignment Act. He also sought the cancellation of all licenses, consents, permissions, and acknowledgement certificates for any activities undertaken on such lands.
