NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned an additional 95.6 MW of solar power capacity at its Kalasar Solar Energy Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The latest addition marks another phase of the company’s ongoing project development and takes the group’s total installed capacity to 11,424.29 MW.
According to the company, the newly commissioned capacity achieved commercial operation from midnight on October 30, 2026. Following this addition, the group’s total commercial capacity has reached 11,328.69 MW, reflecting the continued expansion of its renewable energy portfolio.
The additional 95.6 MW represents the fifth part of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project. The project forms part of the 650 MW solar component being developed under the 500 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) Project of Renewable Energy Management Centre Limited.
The project is being implemented through NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The development is part of the company’s broader efforts to increase its renewable energy generation capacity through utility-scale solar and wind power projects.
Multiple Phases Commissioned at Kalasar
The latest commissioning follows a series of capacity additions at the Kalasar project over the past few weeks. Earlier in October, NTPC Green Energy commenced commercial operations of 66.18 MW of solar capacity at the same location.
The commissioning activities began in September, when the company operationalised the first phase of 81.34 MW. This was followed by the commissioning of the second and third parts, with a combined capacity of 153.94 MW, in early October.
The latest 95.6 MW addition represents another step in the phased development of the solar project. The successive commissioning of different sections indicates the progress of construction and capacity deployment at the Bikaner site.
The Kalasar project is part of NTPC Green Energy’s expanding renewable energy portfolio, which includes large-scale solar and wind power developments across India.
NTPC Green Energy Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio
NTPC Green Energy Limited was incorporated in April 2022 as the renewable energy subsidiary of NTPC Limited, India’s largest power producer. The company focuses on developing and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects, with solar and wind power forming the main areas of its business.
Its project development activities are aligned with India’s broader renewable energy expansion plans and efforts to increase domestic electricity generation from non-fossil fuel sources.
Bikaner in Rajasthan is among the prominent locations for solar power development due to its high solar irradiation and favourable climatic conditions. The region offers opportunities for large-scale solar installations, making it an important destination for renewable energy developers.
The phased commissioning at Kalasar adds to the solar generation capacity in Rajasthan and contributes to NTPC Green Energy’s overall installed capacity. With further sections of the project being developed, the company continues to expand its presence in India’s utility-scale renewable energy segment.
