Over 6,300 property owners who have received draft cards under the Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) project have filed objections, including variations in their property dimensions, and wrong printing of names.
The UPOR project by the Survey Settlement and Land Records (SSLR) department aims to issue property cards for all 25 lakh properties located in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits and it started in 2022. The card contains all details related to the property.
According to an SSLR officer, the boundaries are identified using images captured through drone surveys. The survey has been completed in over 160 wards of the erstwhile 198 wards, and the same will be done in the remaining wards in the next few months. SSLR collected property data from BBMP and the drone survey was completed for 20 lakh properties.
The project team sends a notice to property owners soon after the drone survey to inform them about a surveyor visiting to measure the property. The owners have to show the boundaries of their property and present certain documents. The SSLR officials then prepare a draft UPOR card for each property soon after document verification. The owner must verify the draft and seek changes or alterations, if any, by furnishing documents. The owner will get the property card within 30 days .
J Manjunath, the commissioner for the survey settlement and land records department, said they are issuing draft cards to correct misinformation.
“Now, over 6,000 people, who were among those who received over 2 lakh draft cards, sought alteration of data that appeared in the draft cards. The objections are less than 3%. Our officials will collect the supporting documents and will correct them in the final cards,” said Manjunath.
An SSLR officer said most complaints came from those who were not present at the property when the surveyor visited for manual survey.
