LDA simplifies construction unsealing process

The Lucknow Development Authority(LDA) announced a reform aimed at easing the process for opening construction seals once a mitigation map is approved. LDA vice-chairman Prathmesh Kumar issued new directives to streamline the procedure, prioritising public convenience.

Under the revised system, the authority to unseal constructions will now rest with designated officials, eliminating the need for citizens to make multiple rounds to various departments. Kumar said LDA’s enforcement team regularly acts against illegal constructions and improper land use, sealing properties as directed by the courts.

Currently, individuals seeking to have these seals removed are required to file petitions, which are reviewed by a committee headed by the LDA secretary. However, this process often led to delays and unnecessary complications for citizens, even in cases where mitigation maps were already approved and submitted to the court. Concerns were raised about the troublesome procedure involving the committee, zone officials and additional court appearances.

To address these challenges, the new order authorises the designated officer to independently review and decide on petitions for unsealing constructions. The officer will consult with the secretary before issuing a final order. Furthermore, the secretary will conduct monthly reviews of sealed and unsealed properties to ensure accountability and efficiency.

Kumar said, “LDA is committed to give development by giving facilities to the allottees and public. This move is expected to significantly reduce the bureaucratic hurdles faced by the public, making the unsealing process faster and more transparent.”
