Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level review meeting with the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) in Gandhinagar. He approved several development projects worth ₹247.35 crore aimed at optimizing key state highways.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of significant ongoing road projects totaling ₹2,999.8 crore, covering 188.9 km of vital corridors. One of the most notable approvals is for the widening of the Shantipura-Khoraj section of the Ahmedabad-Viramgam-Maliya road to six-lane, at an estimated cost of ₹800 crore. This measure is expected to significantly strengthen connectivity to the Sanand industrial region and improve infrastructure for existing and potential investors. The Prime Minister also reviewed priority corridors such as the Bharuch-Dahej Road Elevated Corridor, the Bharuch-Dahej Expressway, the Vataman-Pipli and Bhuj-Bhachau high-speed corridors, the Kim-Mandvi Road upgrading project, and the construction of a railway overpass near Sachana.
Additional approvals included the construction of two vehicular underpasses worth ₹28.61 crore on the Vataman-Pipli Road and at the Pipli village junction. In addition, four new vehicular underpasses worth a total of ₹76 crore were approved on the Bhuj-Bhachau Road, near the BKT factory (₹27 crore), at Dhaneti village (₹17.5 crore), at Bhadroi village (₹14.25 crore), and at Dudhai village (₹17 crore).
These measures aim to ensure smoother segregation of local and long-distance traffic, enabling safer and more efficient transportation. The GSRDC also briefed the Chief Minister on the Bhuj-Nakhtrana road project worth ₹937 crore and the rehabilitation work worth ₹76.65 crore. To ensure the timely commencement of the major projects proposed in the 2025-26 Budget, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite land acquisition and preparation of detailed project reports for the Namo Shakti Expressway and the Ahmedabad-Somnath-Dwarka Expressway.
The meeting was attended by Avantika Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister; Prabhat Pateliya, Secretary to the Ministry of Roads and Buildings; Gandhi, Managing Director of the GSRDC; and other senior officials.
