Eight firms bid for ₹1,286 cr Gurugram Metro project

The tender for the initial phase of the Gurugram Metro project, extending from Millennium City Centre to the Dwarka Expressway, has garnered significant interest from infrastructure firms, with eight esteemed companies submitting their proposals for the ₹1,286 crore initiative, according to GMRL officials. GMRL personnel, who opened the tender on Thursday, reported receiving bids from these eight firms, which will now undergo a technical evaluation by the corporation.

GMRL’s CEO and Managing Director, HMRTC, Chander Shekhar Khare, remarked, ‘We have received a very encouraging response from eight reputable construction companies, which will foster healthy competition.

The subsequent step will involve the technical and financial assessment of the bids, which will be prioritized.’ He further noted that while the contract awarding process is still being finalized, they will collaborate with agencies in Gurugram to facilitate the relocation of utilities and the expansion of roads along the metro route, especially for the first phase. GMRL serves as the special purpose vehicle established by the Haryana government to oversee the implementation of mass rapid transport projects within the state. The tender for the first phase was issued on March 8. This phase encompasses the construction of a 15.22 km metro rail viaduct, 15 stations, a 1.85 km spur to the Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp leading to the proposed depot in Sector 33.

The metro stations planned for phase 1 include Millennium City Centre, which will connect with the existing DMRC station via an interchange, as well as Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar phase six, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, and Sector 101. GMRL officials indicated that the metro construction will proceed in three phases, with the second phase involving the establishment of 13 stations from Sector-9 to DLF Cyber City.

The tender for this phase will be floated soon and it is being prepared, they added. In the third phase, a metro depot will be constructed in Sector 33, where HSVP has already allotted 30 acres land to the GMRL, while transfer of around 5 acres is pending.
