E-Khata mandatory for building plan approval from July 1

On Monday, Maheswar Rao, the Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP), announced that E-Khata will be mandatory for obtaining building plan approval starting July 1. E-Khata serves as an electronic property certificate that keeps ownership details in an online database.

As per BBMP, the process of sending property ownership records to the Revenue Department for verification will also cease from July 1. Rao further stated that under the “Trust & Verify” initiative, preliminary plan approvals will be either confirmed or denied with justifiable reasons by the respective assistant directors (town planning) within a designated timeframe.

According to a release from BBMP, the BBMP currently facilitates online building plan approvals via the EoDB-OBPS software. Furthermore, the Revenue Department of BBMP has introduced the E-Aasthi software, which is already issuing E-Khatas for properties located within BBMP jurisdiction, as mentioned in the release.
