The authorities at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) have announced an expansion programme valued at approximately ₹20,000 crore, which is anticipated to create substantial employment opportunities, foster infrastructure development, and stimulate increased economic activity within the district, according to officials.
This brownfield expansion initiative aims to boost BSL’s crude steel production capacity from roughly 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to nearly 7.5 MTPA. “In line with this significant initiative, BSL, a subsidiary of Steel Authority of India Limited, hosted a day-long bidders’ meeting titled ‘Connect Pro’, which attracted participation from prominent domestic and international engineering firms.
This event represented a crucial advancement towards expediting project implementation and enhancing investor confidence,” stated Manikant Dhan, BSL’s chief of communication, on Saturday. Officials noted that the meeting included 17 national and international participants along with a consultant. Bidders’ representatives, comprising global technology suppliers and balance-of-plant package providers, delivered comprehensive presentations on various aspects of the project.
The programme was inaugurated by BSL’s director in-charge, Priya Ranjan, in the presence of senior officials, including executive directors and chief general managers. Dhan remarked, “The key topics addressed during the session encompassed the brownfield expansion activities, the installation of a stamp charged coke oven battery, and the development strategies for Gua ore mines.”
