Alstom Transport India Limited on Sunday emerged as the lowest bidder for the supply of Signalling and Train Control including Platform Screen Doors system for Line-4 and Line-4A of Mumbai Metro.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) opened the financial bids for this contract on Sunday which reveals Alstom transport as the lowest bidder. The financial bid values submitted by Alstom and other two firms are still not known.
MMRDA invited tenders for this work in April 2020, with completion of a period of 137 weeks and technical bids for the same opened in September 2020 which reveal the name of four bidders. Financial bids were submitted by three firms as Bombardier Transportation, among the four bidders, may have not submitted the financial bid due to acquisition or being disqualified or any other reason. Scope of work: Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of Signalling and Train Control including Platform Screen Doors system for Main Line and Depot of Line 4 and Its Extension Corridor (Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA.
Last month, Alstom Transportation also won the contract to design, manufacture, supply, test and commission 234 metro cars, including personnel training for this same Line 4 and Line-4A of Mumbai Metro. The contract value was worth INR 1854 crores.
Line-4 (Green Line) comprises the construction of 32.32 km long elevated corridor with 32 stations from Wadala to Kasarvadavali via Ghatkopar, Mulund and Teen Hath Naka in Thane. Line-4A, an extension of Line-4, comprises the construction of 2.7 km long elevated corridor connecting Kasarvadavali with Gaimukh with 2 stations.
Both lines are expected to become operational in 2022 and will provide interconnectivity among the existing Eastern Express Roadway, Mono Rail, the ongoing Metro Line 2B (D N Nagar – Mandale), and the proposed Metro Line 5 (Thane – Kalyan) and Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar – Vikhroli). Both lines are expected to reduce travel time on the route by 50-75%.
