Getting the building plan approved will now get costlier in Chandigarh as charges imposed under the Construction and Demolition Management Policy 2022 on building plans and revised building plans will be collected henceforth.
Even though the policy had come into effect in February this year, the charges had not been collected till now. The UT estate office also plans to recover these charges from the applicants who got their plans approved after February.
C&D charges are applicable on the new and revised building plan online applications as per the clause 9 (i) of the policy.
Recently, the estate office asked the Chandigarh Smart City Ltd (CSCL) to incorporate the changes in the online building plan approval system (OBPAS) portal being run by CSCL. The estate office asked the CSCL to add the charges to be levied as per the C&D in the OBPAS.
“Since this policy was applicable with effect from February 1, 2023, hence these charges need to be recovered from the above mentioned date. Therefore the estate office wants to do a special audit for the online applications approved during this period to assess the loss and to recover the same,” said an official.
For collecting the requisite data, it sought the details of the all revised building plan and building plans approved between February 1 and July 31 from CSCL.
Under the policy, every waste generator has to dump C&D waste only at designated locations, either by their own conveyance or by requesting machinery from the Chandigarh municipal corporation by paying the requisite charges.
