As many as 39 national highway projects worth 31,000 crore have either been approved or sanctioned in Andhra Pradesh during 2022-23, even as 134 NH projects worth 58,318 crore covering a total length of 3,605 km have been completed or are under construction in the state over the past three years.
This was stated by Union road transport & highways minister Nitin Gadkari in the Rajya Sabha, in response to a question raised by Parimal Nathwani, Rajya Sabha member from AP.
During 2022-23, the Bengaluru-Vijayawada expressway covering a length of 160 km and costing 6,169 crore was one of the biggest NH projects being considered in AP, the Union minister said, adding that the four-laning of Bengaluru-Vijayawada expressway covering a length of 1,115.3 km and costing 4,120 crore was the other major project in the sanction list.
The other projects include the four-laning of Kadapa to Chinna Orampadu section of NH-716, four-laning of Chinna Orampadu to Renigunta section of NH-716, six-laning of Naidupeta-Turpu Kanupura section of NH-71, besides construction of a flyover and underpass at Visakhapatnam airport junction to ensure smooth flow of container trailers to and from the MMLP set up at NH-16, the minister said.
