100 more flats handed over in 3rd phase at Shantipalli Awas Yojana

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) have successfully allocated over 100 additional units at the Shantipalli Awas Yojana to eligible beneficiaries.

This marks the third phase of allotment at the Shantipalli Awas Yojana, referred to as Keshari Residency located in Satya Nagar, which is one of three affordable housing projects implemented under the PM Awas Yojana in Bhubaneswar.

Construction is currently underway for the other two projects, named Ekamra Residency and Barunei Enclave, situated at Buddha Vihar and Subuddhipur, respectively. As a result, the total number of beneficiaries who have received housing through this project has increased to 560.

During the first phase of allotment in November 2023, 326 beneficiaries were handed the keys to their new homes, while the second phase saw an additional 121 families moving into the housing society.

In a recent response in the state assembly, housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra disclosed that this housing project, which is being carried out through a public-private partnership, will ultimately comprise 1,300 dwelling units upon its completion.

In the first phase, the private developer is responsible for the commissioning of 840 units designated for the economically weaker section, of which 560 have already been constructed in a G+4 structure and allocated to beneficiaries, the minister remarked.
