Tenants of Worli BDD Chawls will be the first to move into their new 500 sq feet homes.
Anil Diggikar, CEO and vice-president, Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (Mhada), said the six buildings, each 40-storey high will be ready by December 2024.
“Work is also being expedited at N M Joshi Marg and Naigaum, Dadar. Now, there are no major hurdles with regard to tenants and residents of these chawls ,” he said.
On Monday, CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the project. Shinde approved 300 sq feet homes for slum dwellers on BDD chawl land. Worli has 121 Chawls with 9,689 tenants.
