Properties, including houses, commercial buildings, and plots in Meerut city will soon have a unique ID number.
Meerut Nagar Nigam has started an exercise for the same following an order by the UP government.
Chief tax assessing officer, Meerut Nagar Nigam, Awadhesh Kumar said, “In Meerut, GIS survey of the properties, including residential, non-residential, and commercial ones, is being done by a company. On the basis of it, a unique ID of each property will be generated.”
There are several properties and houses which don’t have any number. These houses will be covered under the GIS survey for the generation of unique property ID.
Kumar said that the property’s unique ID will comprise 17 digits, including state code, municipal corporation code, ward code and property code. It will be linked to the mobile number of property owner and integrated with a single-window system for payment of various taxes, including house and water tax. The property owner will get information of the house and water tax on his mobile number.
At the same time, Nagar Nigam will also have a complete database of properties in the city., with details of any particular property -commercial, residential or non-residential- by one click, said Kumar.
It will expose people with more than one commercial or residential property, he added. Additional municipal commissioner Pramod Kumar said that this unique property ID will be useful for everyone.
